Interview with Mr.Jin who was tested positive for Coronavirus after a trip to Bali with a tour group

On 12 February, Indoeagle obtained the contact of Mr.Jin, who was tested positive for coronavirus in China on 04 February, after his visit from Wuhan to Bali together with a Wuhan tour group of 27 tourists.

*Additional information obtained on 16 Feb from Mr. Jin: He went for a testing in a Huainan City Hospital on 30 Jan 2020.

*A local driver was with the Wuhan tour group, it's likely that he is still in Bali.

Below is an excerpt from the translated Indoeagle interview with Mr.Jin.

Indoeagle: When did you first observe a fever symptom?

Jin: This is difficult to tell because I felt a bit unwell after an hour in the rain as I was rafting in Bali, I bought and took some medicine. The rafting activity was on 27 February. During that activity because of the rain, I felt had a slight cold symptom after returning to the hotel, so I bought some medicine and recovered.

Indoeagle: No fever after that(taking the medicine)?

Jin: Yes.

Indoeagle: Which hotel have you stayed in Bali?

Jin: There were three hotels, the first two hotels were booked by the tour group. After I left the group, I booked a hotel myself. The hotel that I booked is 巴厘岛诺富特南湾度假村(Novotel Bali Benoa).

Indoeagle: Where do you think you were infected (With coronavirus)?

Jin: I I don’t really know the details, because I went to Bali from Wuhan. There were many Wuhan residents on that flight. My tour group had 10 families, half of them were Wuhan families. There was a total of 27 people, around half of them were from Wuhan or surrounding cities of Wuhan.

Might be infected in Bali, I don’t really know. I had no symptoms when I was traveling, that day I felt unwell was because of the rain. An hour in the heavy rain, I had a fever when I went back, I took some medicine and the fever was gone.

Indoeagle: Could you share the itinerary of the tour group?

Jin: Ubud……and many places. Actually, the activities were only for three days. The first day was to the Ubud Market and Ubud Palace, the second day at Lembongan(and Lombok?) for water activities. The last day was free and easy with paid activities. A zoo in the morning and 总统俱乐部(Dream Land Beach Club?) in the afternoon. They returned to Wuhan after the third day. We left the group because we are not Wuhan residents, we bought tickets and went back ourselves. They left on 26 January.

Indoeagle: After going back to China, were there any other people in the Wuhan tour group infected (with coronavirus)?

Jin: I don’t know if there were infected or in the incubation period. My symptoms were minor, Anhui believed that I was a secondary infection or third infection, because my symptoms were minor. I was discharged rather quickly from the hospital, diagnosed on the 4th and discharged on the 11th.

Indoeagle: Were there any other person in the Wuhan tour group who felt unwell during those few days of traveling in Bali?

Jin: I’ve asked my wife, she has a chat group, the people in that group were not unwell. I don’t really know after I came back, I didn’t really feel unwell also, I felt unwell only after getting soaked in the rain.

(Jin's wife was not infected with the virus.)
